Giant Voice

RAF Croughton has installed an upgraded tanoy system, known as “Giant Voice”, across both the base and the Caversfield housing area.

The ‘Giant Voice”  is designed to get a message across the base to all personnel if an emergency situation arose and is also used on the base each working day to play the national anthems at the end of the day.

Now that the upgrade is complete, they are planning to test out the new system at noon on Friday 27 October. The test will last anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. During this time villagers may hear various tones and alerts that they are required to validate during the calibration phase of the new system install.

Don’t panic – this is just a test!  Once the testing is complete, the system should be used in the same way as usual.

Vacancy for the co-option of two new Councillors

The Parish Council is the first tier of Local Government representing the local community, delivering services to meet local needs wherever possible, and improving quality of life and community well being.  We try to work with the many Management Companies in the village together with the MoD for the benefit of all.  We also have links with the District and County Councils and other agencies.

The Parish Council currently has two Councillor vacancies for co-option.

There are a few criteria you must be able to comply with:

To qualify a person must be a British subject, over 18 years old and an elector; must reside within Caversfield or within three miles of it, or occupy as owner or tenant any land or premises therein, or have their principal or only place of work there, and must not be disqualified from holding office as a Councillor.

If you would like to join us, let the Clerk have a brief CV and explanation about why you would like to be a Councillor by Friday 15 September and your application will be considered at the next meeting.

Would you like to contribute to the village and help form the way forward for the village?

A vacancy on the Parish Council has arisen due to a Councillor resignation.

For more information, please contact the Clerk, Jane Olds or come along to the next Parish Council meeting on 20 September to see how it all works.

No experience is necessary, but a willingness to learn and help the community would be a great advantage.  Training can also be given.
